Why do characters and UTF-8 bytes differ?
Plain English letters use 1 byte each, but emoji, accented letters and characters from other scripts can take 2 to 4 bytes. A 100-character message with emoji can be 200 or more bytes.
How many characters fit in one SMS?
Plain text without emoji fits 160 characters in a single SMS segment. Adding an emoji or an accented character switches the message to Unicode, which allows only 70 characters per segment.
What is the ideal length for an SEO title?
Keep title tags under 60 characters and meta descriptions under 160 characters so Google does not cut them off in search results.
Does X (Twitter) count emoji the same as letters?
X counts most emoji as 2 characters against its 280 character limit, while this tool counts them as 1 character each, so leave a small buffer if your text is emoji-heavy.
