Picking the right time zone
Choose your own local time zone if you just want to know how long until the moment arrives wherever you are. Choose the event's time zone instead when the event happens somewhere else and the exact local start time matters, like a product launch at 9am Pacific or a flight departing from London.
The countdown works out the correct offset for the date you picked, including any daylight saving change between now and then, so the target moment stays accurate no matter which time zone you choose.
Sharing a countdown
- Click copy share link and the event name, date, time and time zone all travel inside the link itself, so whoever opens it sees the same countdown without typing anything in.
- Nothing is stored on a server. If you lose the link, you lose the saved countdown, so keep a copy somewhere if it matters.
- Bookmark the link yourself if you want to come back to the same countdown later without resetting it.

Does it count down in my time zone or the event's?
You choose. Pick your local time zone, or pick the time zone where the event actually happens, and the countdown adjusts the target moment to match.
What happens when the countdown reaches zero?
The numbers stop at zero and a message shows that the event has started.
Can I share this countdown with someone else?
Yes. Click copy share link and the event name, date, time and time zone are all included in the link, so it opens already set up for them.
Is my event saved anywhere?
No. It only lives in the page or in a share link you create yourself, never on a server.
What is the default countdown set to?
If you have not shared or loaded a countdown, it opens counting down to January 1 at midnight, next New Year, so you can see it working right away before you change it.
Does it handle daylight saving time correctly?
Yes. It works out the real UTC offset for your chosen time zone at the moment of the event, so a countdown that spans a daylight saving change still lands on the correct clock time.
Can I count down to a time that already passed?
You can set one, but the countdown will show the event has started right away, since a past date and time has no time left to count down.
Does the countdown keep running if I switch tabs?
Yes. It recalculates the time left from the target date and the current clock every second, so switching away and back does not throw off the numbers.
