- Download the PNGs, or all of them as a ZIP.
Resolution and file size
PNG has no quality setting because it is lossless: every pixel is kept exactly, so resolution is the only thing that changes how sharp or how large the file is.
| DPI | Pixel size (Letter page) | Typical use |
|---|---|---|
| 72 DPI | about 612 x 792 px | quick screen preview |
| 150 DPI | about 1275 x 1650 px | web viewing, general use |
| 300 DPI | about 2550 x 3300 px | printing, small text, zooming in |
Because nothing is thrown away, a page at 300 DPI can be several times larger as a PNG than the same page saved as a JPG.
When JPG beats PNG
Switch to PDF to JPG when the page is a photo or you plan to email or upload the image somewhere with a size limit. JPG compresses much smaller and the difference is hard to see for photographic content, it just is not the right choice for crisp text or line art.
Exporting only some pages
Leave the pages field empty to export every page. Type page numbers or ranges, like 1-3, 5, when you only need certain pages out of a longer document.
PDF to PNG FAQ
Why choose PNG instead of JPG?
PNG keeps sharp edges and text crisp with no compression artifacts, which suits diagrams, screenshots and scanned documents better than JPG.
Which resolution should I use?
150 DPI is a good default. Use 300 DPI for pages with fine print or when you plan to zoom in.
Can I export only certain pages?
Yes. Type page numbers or ranges like 1-3, 5, or leave the field empty for every page.
Will file sizes be large?
PNG files are bigger than JPG, especially at 300 DPI. Use PDF to JPG instead if size matters more than exact sharpness.
Why is there no quality slider?
PNG is lossless, so there is no quality level to trade off. Resolution is the only setting that changes sharpness and file size.
What pixel size will a Letter page be?
About 612 x 792 pixels at 72 DPI, 1275 x 1650 at 150 DPI, or 2550 x 3300 at 300 DPI, since resolution multiplies directly by the page's physical size.
Is there a limit on how many pages I can export?
No fixed limit. Very long PDFs depend only on your device's own memory.
