90, 180 degrees vs a custom angle
Rotating by exactly 90, 180 or 270 degrees just moves whole pixels into a new position, so there is no blur or quality loss at all. Any other angle, like straightening a slightly tilted photo, has to resample pixels along the new diagonal edges, which softens them very slightly.

When a format cannot store transparency, the corners are filled with the background color you choose, white by default.
Straightening a tilted photo
- Drag the angle slider a couple of degrees at a time and watch the preview until a straight edge, like a horizon or a wall, looks level.
- The canvas expands automatically so nothing outside the original edges gets cut off.
- For a photo that just needs a quick quarter turn, the 90 degree left and right buttons are faster than the slider.

Can I rotate by an exact custom angle?
Yes. Drag the angle slider or type a value from -180 to 180 degrees for a precise tilt correction.
What fills the new corners after rotating?
For PNG, WEBP, GIF, TIFF and ICO you can leave them transparent. JPG and BMP cannot store transparency, so pick a background color for those.
Does rotating lower the image quality?
Rotating by 90, 180 or 270 degrees moves pixels with no blur. Other angles resample the image, which softens the edges slightly.
Can I rotate several photos at once?

My iPhone photo looks sideways everywhere except in my photo library, why?
Many apps read the phone's own rotation tag and display the photo upright automatically. Once you rotate and re-save it here, the pixels themselves are turned the right way up, so it looks correct everywhere, including apps that ignore that tag.
Can I straighten a photo without cropping the tilted edges?
Rotating by a custom angle always leaves small triangular gaps at the corners, filled with your chosen background color or left transparent. Crop the result afterward with TabbyKit's Crop image tool if you want a clean rectangle.
What is the difference between rotate and flip?
Rotate turns the photo around its center point. Flip mirrors it, like a reflection, without turning it. TabbyKit has a separate Flip image tool for that.
