Classic meme layout
The traditional meme style uses one line of bold white text with a black outline across the top and another across the bottom, in a heavy sans-serif font. Two text boxes are added automatically when you drop a photo, already positioned top and bottom, ready to edit.

- Click Add text for another caption, each with its own size, color, outline and position.
- Pick one of the nine spots on the position grid instead of dragging.
- Remove a text box with its own Remove button if you no longer need it.

Yes. Click Add text to add another box, each with its own text, size, color and position.
How do I get the classic meme look?
Turn on Outline in black, set the text color to white, and place one box at the top and one at the bottom.
Can I add a drop shadow instead of an outline?
Yes. Turn on Shadow for a softer look that still keeps text readable over busy photos.
Is my photo uploaded?
No. The photo and the text are drawn together in your browser and never leave your device.
Can I change the font?
The text uses one bold, high legibility font built for captions, matching the classic meme look, rather than a font picker.
What size text should I use?
The default size scales to about 11 percent of the photo's height, which reads well at typical social media sizes. Use the size slider to go bigger or smaller.
Can I position text anywhere, not just top and bottom?
Yes. Each text box has its own nine-point position grid, so you can place captions in any corner or the center, not only top and bottom.
Can I use this to caption a screenshot instead of a photo?
Yes, any image works, including screenshots. Adding a bold label or instruction over a screenshot is a common use, not just memes.
