Whole image vs specific areas
Blurring the whole image softens every pixel by the same amount, useful for a soft background or an artistic effect. Specific areas lets you drag one or more boxes over just the parts to hide, like a face, license plate, or a document number, leaving the rest of the photo sharp.
How blur strength works
The strength slider sets the blur radius in pixels, from 1 to 40. A radius around 10 hides fine detail like text but still shows shapes and colors. Above about 25, most recognizable detail disappears completely.
Blurring faces and plates
- Drag a box a little larger than the face or plate. Blur spreads slightly past the box edges, so a tight box can leave a sharp sliver visible.
- Add a separate box for each face or plate in the photo. There is no limit on how many.
- Click directly on a marked box to remove it if you drew it in the wrong spot.

Can I blur just a face or a license plate?
Yes. Switch to Specific areas, then drag a box over each part you want blurred. You can add as many boxes as you need.
Can I undo a marked area?
Click directly on a marked area to remove it, or click Clear areas to remove them all.
Can this replace redacting sensitive information?
Blurring hides details from a casual look but is not a guaranteed way to remove data. For sensitive documents, cropping or blacking out the area completely is safer.
Is my photo uploaded?
No. The blur is applied in your browser and the photo never leaves your device.
What is the difference between blur and pixelate for hiding a face?
Blur smooths detail into a soft haze. Pixelate replaces it with large flat blocks. Both hide identity at typical strengths; pick whichever look you prefer.
Can I adjust the blur after applying it?
Yes, before you download. Move the strength slider or redraw the boxes and click Apply again. Only after downloading is the blur baked into the file.
Does blurring the whole image work well for a background effect?
Yes. A strength around 10 to 15 gives a soft, out of focus background look while keeping colors and shapes recognizable.
