Whole image vs specific areas
Pixelating the whole image gives it a retro, mosaic look. Specific areas lets you drag boxes over just a face, screen or license plate, hiding detail there while the rest of the photo stays sharp.
How block size works
The block size slider controls how many pixels are averaged into one flat square, from 3 to 60. A small block size like 5 still shows a rough shape. Above about 20, most detail underneath is unreadable.
Pixelating faces and plates
- Drag a box a little larger than the area you want hidden, since blocks are calculated from the box edges.
- Use a bigger block size for a stronger hide. Around 16 to 20 makes text and faces unreadable.
- Add as many boxes as you need, one per face or plate.

Can I pixelate just a face or a license plate?
Yes. Switch to Specific areas, then drag a box over each part you want pixelated. You can add as many boxes as you need.
How do I make the blocks bigger or smaller?
Move the block size slider. A higher number makes each block bigger and harder to see through.
Can I undo a marked area?
Click directly on a marked area to remove it, or click Clear areas to remove them all.
Is my photo uploaded?
No. The pixelation is applied in your browser and the photo never leaves your device.
What is the difference between pixelate and blur?
Pixelate replaces an area with large flat blocks, giving the classic censored look. Blur smooths detail into a soft haze instead. Both hide identity.
Will pixelating make the whole photo smaller in file size?
Usually a little, since flat blocks compress more easily than fine detail, though the effect is modest unless the blocks are large.
Can I preview before downloading?
Yes. The pixelated preview updates live as you adjust the slider or move boxes, before you click Apply and download.
Can I pixelate a screenshot to hide text?
Yes. Draw a box over the text and raise the block size slider until the letters are no longer readable, the same way you would hide a face.
Will pixelating remove the shape underneath, like a logo or sign?
No, the general shape and color still show through, since pixelate averages small areas rather than deleting them. It hides fine detail like text, not the overall outline.
