How the cutter works
Your file is decoded into raw audio the moment you drop it, and the waveform above the handles is drawn from that decoded audio so you can see where the loud and quiet parts fall.
Dragging the handles or typing a time only moves the selection: nothing is processed until you click Export clip, so you can adjust the range as many times as you like first.

Pick MP3 instead when you need the widest compatibility, for example to play the clip on an older phone or a car stereo.
Getting a clean cut
- Turn on fade in when the clip starts mid-word or mid-note, and fade out when it ends the same way, to avoid a hard pop at the cut point.
- Type exact times in the start and end fields (in seconds, to two decimal places) when you need frame-accurate precision beyond what dragging allows.
- Use Play selection before exporting to check the cut sounds right, since it plays only the current selection and stops automatically.

Which audio formats can I cut?
MP3, WAV, M4A, OGG, FLAC and most other formats your browser can play.
Can I keep the original format instead of MP3?
Yes. Choose Same as original in the export format list and the clip keeps the source file's format and, for WAV or FLAC, its full lossless quality.
Does the fade change the length of the clip?
No. The fade blends into the start or end of your selected range without adding extra time. Fades run for up to 1 second, or a quarter of the clip's length if the clip is shorter than 4 seconds.
Can I cut more than one clip from the same file?
Yes. Adjust the range and click Export clip again. Each export is added to the list so you can download them all.
What bitrate is the exported MP3?
192 kbps, a fixed setting chosen to sound close to the original for speech and music without a large file. There is no bitrate picker on this tool.
How short a clip can I cut?
As short as 0.1 seconds. The handles won't let the start and end get any closer together than that.
Can I cut more than one audio file at a time?
No, this tool loads one file at a time. Export your clip, then drop the next file to start on it.
Is my audio uploaded?
No. The whole clip is cut and exported inside your browser.
