What you can see and edit

Created and modified dates are also shown for reference, but they are set by whatever software last saved the file rather than being fields you edit here.
Why this information ends up in your files
Word processors, scanners, print drivers and export tools all fill in some of these fields automatically, often with the software's own name, your operating system's account name, or the date the file was created. Most people never open the properties panel to notice.
That is usually harmless, but it can quietly reveal the name on your work computer's login, the software you used, or a subject line you did not mean to publish alongside a document you are sharing outside your organization.
Editing versus removing
- Edit the fields when you want a cleaner title and author to show up in a reader's properties panel or a search result.
- Check Remove all metadata when you would rather the file carry none of this information at all.
- Removing metadata does not touch the pages, text, images or layout of the PDF, only the properties attached to the file.

Why would I remove all metadata?
To stop sharing details like the software or author name that were saved automatically when the PDF was created.
Does this remove the creation and modification dates?
Removing all metadata clears the visible fields shown here. The dates are shown for reference but are reset by your PDF viewer the next time the file is saved elsewhere.
Is my document uploaded to read its metadata?
No. The PDF is opened and edited entirely inside your browser.
Does this remove every trace of hidden information in the file?
It clears the standard document properties: title, author, subject, keywords, creator and producer, the fields every PDF reader shows in its properties panel. Some PDFs exported from design or office software also carry a separate embedded metadata stream with similar details, which this tool does not touch.
Can I edit just one field without touching the others?
Yes. Change only the field you need and leave the rest as they are, then save. You do not have to fill in every box.
What is the Producer field?
It usually names the software that generated the PDF, such as a print driver or an export tool. It is set automatically by most software and rarely needs manual editing outside of removing it.
Can I add keywords that were never in the original file?
Yes. Type any keywords you want, separated by commas, and they are saved into the file's Keywords field.
