How to record your screen
- Click Start recording and choose a screen, window or tab to share.
- Pause, resume or stop whenever you like.
- Download the recording, or convert it to MP4 first.
What format you get
There's no format picker, because the browser decides how it records. Chrome, Firefox and Edge produce WebM with VP9 or VP8 video and Opus audio. Safari can record straight to MP4 with H.264 and AAC.
If your recording comes out as WebM and you need MP4, for example to import into an editor that doesn't read WebM, click Convert to MP4 once you stop. That runs a full re-encode, so it takes a little longer than the recording itself.
Capturing tab, system and microphone audio
The Include tab or system audio checkbox is on by default. Whether it actually captures anything depends on what you share: picking a browser tab lets Chrome capture that tab's audio, while sharing a window or your entire screen often captures no audio at all in most browsers, regardless of the checkbox.
Turn on Include microphone to add your voice narration. If both are on, the tab or system audio and your microphone are mixed together live into one audio track, not saved as two separate tracks.
Tips for a clean recording
- Share a specific tab instead of your full screen when you need that tab's audio, since full-screen and window sharing usually stay silent unless you add your microphone.
- If your microphone permission is denied or unavailable, the recording still proceeds with just the screen and system audio.
- Longer recordings use more of your device's memory before you download them, so stop and save a long session rather than letting it run indefinitely.
- The video stops recording by itself if you use the browser's own "Stop sharing" control, so you don't have to switch back to this tab to end it.

Is there a time limit?
No. Recording continues until you click Stop or close the shared tab, limited only by your device's memory.
Can I record my microphone at the same time?
Yes. Check Include microphone before you start, and it is mixed live into the same recording alongside your system or tab audio.
Why is there no sound in my recording?
Browsers only capture tab or system audio when you choose a tab, not a window or full screen, to share, and confirm the audio checkbox in the browser's own share dialog. Picking a window or a whole screen usually gives you a silent recording unless you also add your microphone.
What file format do I get?
It depends on the browser: Chrome, Firefox and Edge record WebM, while Safari can record MP4 directly. You can convert a WebM recording to MP4 with one click after you stop.
Can I pause and resume a recording?
Yes. Use the pause and resume buttons as many times as you like before you stop, and the paused time is not included in the final recording.
Does it stop if I close the shared tab or window?
Yes. Recording stops automatically the moment the screen, window or tab you're sharing closes or the share ends, so you never lose the part already captured.
Can I record my screen on a phone?
Screen capture through the browser mostly works on desktop. Most mobile browsers, especially iOS Safari, don't support this kind of in-browser screen capture.
Is my recording uploaded anywhere?
No. Recording, preview and conversion all happen on your own device.
