| Concerts, music videos | 256 to 320 kbps |
One tool for every container
The MP4 to MP3 tool on this site does the same job but only accepts MP4. This page exists so you don't need to first work out what container your video uses before converting it: MOV, WebM, MKV and most other formats a browser can decode all go through the same process here, and the result is always a plain MP3 whatever you dropped in.
Video to MP3 FAQ
Which video formats can I use?
MP4, MOV, WebM and MKV all work, along with most other formats a browser can play.
What happens to the picture?
It is discarded. Only the audio track is kept in the MP3, at whatever length that audio track runs.
Why does it say the file has no audio track?
Some screen recordings and silent clips are saved without sound, so there is nothing to extract.
Which bitrate should I choose?
192 kbps is a solid default. Go up to 256 or 320 kbps for music-heavy footage, or down to 128 kbps for spoken audio like interviews and vlogs.
Is this different from the MP4 to MP3 tool?
It works the same way, but accepts more source containers. Use this one if your file is MOV, WebM, MKV or anything other than plain MP4.
Can I pull audio out of a screen recording?
Yes, as long as the recording has an audio track. Screen recordings saved without system or microphone audio have nothing to extract.
Does the video's container affect the MP3 at all?
No. Whether the source is MP4, MOV, WebM or MKV, the audio is decoded to the same raw form before being re-encoded to MP3, so the container itself has no effect on the result.
Are my videos uploaded?
No. The audio is pulled out inside your browser.
